INTRODUCTION
Conscientization is a popular education and social
concept developed by Brazilian educational theorist Paulo Freire. It includes
taking action against the oppressive elements in one’s life that are
illuminated by understanding.
The English term Conscientization is a translation of
the Portuguese term conscientizaeao, which
is also translated as” consciousness raising” and critical
consciousness. The term was popularized by Brazilian educator, activist and
theorist Paulo Freire in his 1970 work Pedagogue’s of the oppressed.
Conscientization is
defined as “learning to perceive social,
political and economic contradiction and to take action against the
oppressive elements of reality.

children develop the ability” to ask good questions .” It help us in our
journey towards liberation and freedom through intellectual curiosity.

NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE
Suicide is the taking off one’s own life. It is a very
dangerous attempt .On 19/01/2022 A plus
two student in our school committed suicide.
It was a schoking news for all teachers and students .we know that
suicide is not a solution for all problems . We should be so courage and strong
to face any situation . So we think that’s we should provide a class to our
students regarding the causes and remedies of suicide and give them a mental
support .so for that we conducted a Conscientization programme in G.H.H.S.S
Anchal west school on 27/01/2022.

and remedies of suicide tendency .

What is suicide?
Suicide is the taking of
one’s own life. It is a death that happens when someone harms themselves
because they want to end their life. A suicide attempt is when someone harms
themselves to try to end their life, but they do not die.Suicide is a major
public health problem and a leading cause of death in the United States. The
effects of suicide go beyond the person who acts to take his or her life. It
can also have a lasting effect on family, friends, and communities.
Who is at risk for
suicide?
Suicide does not
discriminate. It can touch anyone, anywhere, at any time. But there are certain
factors that can contribute to the risk of suicide, including:
·
Having attempted suicide before depression
and other mental health disorders

What
are the warning signs for suicide?
The warning signs for
suicide include:
·
Talking about wanting to die or wanting to
kill oneself
·
Making a plan or looking for a way to kill
oneself, such as searching online
·

Some people may tell others about their
suicidal thoughts. But others may try to hide them. This can make some of the
signs harder to spot.
What should we do if I
need help or know someone who does?
If you or someone you
know has the warning signs for suicide, get help right away, especially if
there is a change in behavior. If it is an emergency, dial 911. Otherwise there
are five steps that you can take:
Ask the person
if they’re thinking about killing them selve
Keep them safe.
Find out whether they have a plan for suicide and keep them away from things
that they can use to kill themselves.
Be there with them. Listen
carefully and find out what they are thinking and feeling.
Help them connect to
resources that can help them,
Stay connected. Staying
in touch after a crisis can make a difference.
REFLECTION
The programme was inaugurated by C.Mani Sir Principal,,Govt.HSS
Anchal West .He gave a brief introduction to students about the topic. After
the inaugural ceremony we presented the topic by using power point presentation. The
topic was effectively delivered . The class found effective and at last they
took a pledge that they won’t commit suicide and face any situation strongly..
CONCLUSION
The class was informative and students were moved by
our talk. We executed the programme in a good way and made students aware of “
suicide is not a solution for any problem”. They could understand that suicide
is not a solution”. Suicide doesn’t solve your problems. It only makes them
infinitely, un-countably worse “.We got a good feedback from the students as
well as from the teacher.
